3D Behavior Manual
3D Behavior Manual
The original 3D manual was written in 2016 to support the 3D dementia program and to provide an educational and training foundation for healthcare professionals interested in non-pharmacological behavior management of patients with dementia. Managing the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) is very challenging, and solid evidence-based models are necessary to achieve success in reducing behavior symptoms and psychological distress. Success with 3D facilitates right-sizing psychotropic utilization, care outcomes, and improves the social milieu in residential care settings.
This third edition of the manual was written to reflect new research conducted at the BCAT® Research Center in Maryland, USA and development of additional instruments (e.g., the Columbia Behavior Scale for Dementia or CBS-8). In this version of the manual, we include additional resources and tools for effective intervention.
This manual is the definitive guide for helping healthcare professionals across disciplines to better manage BPSDs in older adults.
